Welcome one and all to our new website. Queensland Lightning Sprints race at various tracks including Maryborough, Toowoomba, Archerfield Brisbane and Lismore. Our race season usually starts around September and goes through until May. Once you are a member of our club, you will collect points at each racing meeting and then the final points will be announced at a Trophy Presentation Night at the end of the season. These cars have either car engines or some have motorbike engines. They can reach speeds up to 90 km on the straight and are powered by methanonl fuel. All drivers need to have NASR insurance and fire protectant safety gear according to Nasr specifications. If you would like to join this class, please contact Jenny Whell on jwhell@bigpond.com.au

30th Annual Australian Litre Sprintcar Championship
20th May
In 1982 a gentleman by the name of Ray Christoffel representing Queensland became the first ever winner of the Australian Litre Sprintcar Championship. Since then, the QLD VS NSW rivalry has intensified and NSW in recent years has taken a strangle hold on the event claiming every Championship since the late Patrick Moroney took Queensland's last win back in 2002.
On Saturday June 9 after 2 unfortunate washouts, the prestigious event is set to have all the right ingredients for a truly memorable Championship at Lucas Oils Lismore Speedway.
Defending Champion and local favourite Tony Brearley will be the undeniable and deserving favourite. Brearley has the #1 on his tail tank and will take some stopping in his title defense.
Hot on his shoes will be the current form driver in NSW - The 2012 NSW State Championship & Gold Cup Winner Scott Lewin. After last years heart break of leading 24 of 25 laps, Lewin will get his shot at redemption in 20 days time.
The Queensland charge is looking stronger and stronger everyday. With the likes of David Whell, Wayne Iacano, Scott Doyle, Steve Seefeld, John Cariola, Gavin Gilbert, Shane Matthews and Anthony Parker previously nominated - the chances to break QLD's drought looks high.
Nominations will close on Sunday June 3rd at 5pm. QLD, VIC, ACT and NSW drivers are welcome to nominate up until that time. Feel free to contact Adam Raw 0401 839 374 for further details.

NIGHT ONE SAW ALL OF THE GUYS DO WELL IN THERE HEATS BUT GENRICH WAS INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT WHICH FORCED HIM TO DROP THAT HEAT. WHELL STRUGGLED IN HIS HEATS WHICH SAW HIM IN 10TH IN THE POINTS AND GENRICH 19TH .
WITH ONLY TAKING 20 CARS IN THE A MAIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT WHELL ,GENRICH AND VAN VEGCHEL HAD TO MAKE GAINS IN THEIR LAST ROUND OF HEATS TO MAKE THE MAIN. BRISBANE'S DAVE VAN VEGCHEL HAD TO MAKE HIS TITLE FIGHT FROM THE B MAIN RUNNING 4TH IN THE B, STAMPED HIS MARK ON THIS YEARS TITLE STARTING POS #20. WITH FANNING AND IACONO STARTING FROM THE FRONT, IACONO GETS THE JUMP ON FANNING BUT IT WAS SHORT LIVED WITH FANNING TAKING THE LEAD AND NEVER LOOKED BACK. WHELL AND GENRICH LOOKED IMPRESSIVE EARLY, MOVING FORWARD QUICKLY WITH 17 LAPS TO GO HAVING TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION WHEN DOYLE AND SEEFELD CAME TOGETHER HAVING A MASSIVE CRASH ON THE BACK STRAIGHT .
THIS LEFT FANNING, IACONO, WHELL AND GENRICH IN THE TOP 5 SPOTS AND THE TASMANIAN CHAMPION KERRY SHORT WITH WHELL AND IACONO HAVING THEIR OWN RACE FIGHTING FOR SECOND, WHELL SHOWING HIS NOSE ON SEVERAL OCASIONS TILL MAKING HIS MOVE ON IACONO LOST BRAKES AND WAS FORCED TO PARK IT FOR THE NIGHT, GENRICH VERY UNLUCKY BEING CAUGHT UP IN CRASHES BUT STILL FINISHING IN A BATTLE SCARED RACE CAR .VAN VEGCHEL AND GENRICH STILL FINISHING IN THE TOP 10 BUT IT WAS FANNING AND IACONO STILL UP THE FRONT READY TO STAND ON THAT PODIUM. Fanning takes QLD Title in impressive style
Night One - saw 6 heats and a preliminary A Main for the drivers, but it was Scott Genrich who got the excitement started unfortunately with a roll over in hot laps. Heat 1 saw the carnage continue with Mark Sinton rolling over on turn one of lap one after a coming together between Wayne Iacono & Michael Gollagher putting altogether 4 cars out of the 1st heat. Fortunately for the rest of night one the remaining racing was relatively incident free and the drivers put on some quality racing.
Heat 1 - 1st Dave Whell, 2nd Wayne Iacono, 3rd Keith Blatch
Heat 2 - 1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Steve Seefeld, 3rd Peter Campbell
Heat 3 - 1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Dave Whell, 3rd Peter Campbell
Heat 4 - 1st Scott Doyle, 2nd John Cariola, 3rd Scott Genrich
Heat 6 - 1st Wayne Iacono, 2nd Dave Fanning, 3rd David Van Vegchel
Preliminary A Main - 1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Dave Whell, 3rd Scott Doyle
Night Two - Two more heats an A & B Dash and the Qld Title Feature lay ahead of the drivers for the 2nd night of racing. Unfortunately we lost a few cars due to engine failure and damage from night one. The 7th heat saw our International visitor come away with a win showing some quality driving, heat 8 saw some of the fastest racing of the weekend with Dave Fanning producing a slick 13.121 lap time. Drivers tussled for positions in the dash races to give themselves the best possible grid start for the feature race.
Heat 7 - 1st Dayne Maxwell (NZ), 2nd Scott Genrich, 3rd John Cariola
Heat 8 - 1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Michael Gollagher, 3rd Peter Campbell
A Dash - 1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Steve Seefeld, 3rd Peter Campbell, 4th Michael Gollagher, 5th Jenny Whell
B Dash - 1st Scott Genrich, 2nd Wayne Iocanno, 3rd Scott Doyle, 4th John Cariola, 5th Anthony Parker,
6th David Van Vegchel
Qld Title Feature Race -
14 drivers took the grid for the feature race and it was Australian champion Dave Fanning who lead from start to finish in a brilliant display of driving to be crowned Qld Champion. Fanning's form this season has been second to none and his victory was not only dominating but also very well deserved. 2nd & 3rd place was fought out between Scott Genrich & Steve Seefeld all race, these two put on a fantastic display of side by side racing with their positions changing back & forth all race. All drivers put on a great feature race and should be commended for their efforts.
1st Dave Fanning, 2nd Scott Genrich, 3rd Steve Seefeld, 4th Wayne Iaconno, 5th Dave Whell, 6th Peter Campbell, 7th John Cariola, 8th Mark Sinton
The committee would like to thank Scott & Sharon Genrich, Charlton Raceway, Officials, drivers & crews plus everybody who helped with the running of this meeting.
Also special thankyou to Jenny Whell & Shelley Sinton for all their efforts in setting up this meeting
To all our sponsors we very much appreciate your backing and thankyou for all your support.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Scott Doyle last years champion will be back at Charlton to try and take the crown back to back. But with the fierce competition that will be there Doyle will have to work extra hard to keep it. Top contenders in Fanning, Whell, Genrich, Iacona & Seefeld will also be there to try and take the spoils from him and NZ Champion Dayne Maxwell has confirmed his nomination to this prestige event.
Whell who had a thrilling drive last year from the rear will be looking to go one better, with the track being very fast and smooth this year it will be anyone's race. With numerous feature winners this year it will be hard to pick who will be this years Qld Champion.
Just hoping the weather holds off this weekend so we can all show some top class action that we are used to seeing from the Lightning Sprints. Best of luck to all drivers competing and a Happy and safe Easter to everyone.

This Saturday night sees the qld lightning sprints return to the BIS Archerfield speedway with an explosive field of 23 cars. They will make there way to Brisbane to do battle for round 8 for the qlrsa series.
Some main drivers have blistering pace this season so far in the likes of Dave Fanning, Wayne Iacono, Scott Genrich, also returning this week is one of Toowoomba’s favourites Keith Blatch driving the 18x Harris of Scott Genrich. Keith has not turned a wheel since the national titles back in September, joining him also another Toowoomba racer Jason Iacono bringing his new FOZ race car, he also has not raced since early this year due to a big crash at Toowoomba.
This weekend you will also see the return of Qld 71 Steven Seefeld, who posted fast time at Toowoomba on Saturday and looking for a good result as well.
It will be a quality field this Saturday night with some quality drivers really stepping up this season including, Mark Sinton, Jim Kennedy and the 2 lady racers in Jenny Whell and Lismore local Emma Harris. With good reports from the promoters with quality fast cars and very close racing.
Talking to Wayne Moller from Maryborough Speedway saying “it was one of the best feature races he has seen this year” . With Fanning, Whell and Genrich all dicing for the lead, made it very exciting from a spectators point of view.
Looking forward to a fantastic night of racing once again at BIS this Saturday Night.

Unfortunately due to a late storm on Saturday 11th February the meeting at Charlton Raceway was cut short the lightning sprints were able to run 4 heats and showed some quality racing before the downpour. Hope to see everybody at Brisbane on Saturday night.

Nominations for Brisbane on the 18th Feb will be carried forward for the show on the 25th February at Charlton. Please contact Jenny Whell if unavailable.

DARYL MARTIN RACING
Daryl Martin of DMR#96 is pleased to announce there in the final stages of having the current 2010/11 New Zealand Mini Sprint Champion on board with them for the Queensland Lightning Sprint Title that will be held at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba in April 2012.
Dayne Maxwell from Hamilton New Zealand will make his International Racing Debut and strap himself into the driver’s seat of my Lightning Sprint, which has a Henchcraft Chassis with a ZX12 power plants in it say’s Daryl.
I have spoken to Scott Genrich at Charlton Raceway, and also Dave Whell from the club, it is close to finalization and all systems go say’s Daryl. I may also have the pleasure of having Chris Street owner of CSR Fabrications on the spanners and a former New Zealand Mini Sprint Champion himself.Thats a bonus say’s Daryl.
This is good for the Lightning Sprints, good for the Club, and certainly good for Speedway in general I believe. I hope this will attract a large car count. I just ask that people will make Dayne feel welcome. So come on down and say hello.
I am organising my passport and keeping in regular contact with Daryl, says Dayne. I can’t wait to hit the track and turn some laps at Charlton Raceway in sunny Queensland. To win a National Title is great, but to race in another country well that’s icing on the cake. I have been asked to bring my flag which I will do. Who knows, if everything pans out right and Daryl is up to it, we may even head down the highway to South Australia and do the National Title if we meet the requirements. “See you all at the track”...

****************************************************************************************************************
THIS WEEKS STORY
Local Toowoomba Driver Mark Sinton showed good form from Practice Thursday night through to the Main event Saturday night. With only two shows under his belt Mark performed very well in his heat races and stayed out of trouble. Mark opted not to nominate for the National Title up until the last minute, with limited racing done so early in the year but proved he can keep it up there with the front runners. With gaining two top three finishes in his heats which gave him 9th highest point scorer going into the Pole Shuffle. Coming up against another Toowoomba local Keith Blatch, Blatch with the fire in his belly after having such rotten luck all weekend defeated Mark Sinton in his first round. So this meant Mark has to start out of position ten. Mark then kept his nose clean to finish an outstanding 7th place in his first National Title and is now looking forward to the rest of the season. Well done to Mark and his crew for an outstanding effort that weekend at Charlton Raceway.
