Welcome one and all to our new website. Queensland Lightning Sprints race at various tracks including Maryborough, Toowoomba, Archerfield Brisbane and Lismore. Our race season usually starts around September and goes through until May. Once you are a member of our club, you will collect points at each racing meeting and then the final points will be announced at a Trophy Presentation Night at the end of the season. These cars have either car engines or some have motorbike engines. They can reach speeds up to 90 km on the straight and are powered by methanonl fuel. All drivers need to have NASR insurance and fire protectant safety gear according to Nasr specifications. If you would like to join this class, please contact Jenny Whell on jwhell@bigpond.com.au

Round 5 of the club championship was held at Charlton on Saturday night with a good field of 16 cars making the journey to Toowoomba.  The Lightning Sprints were given 3 heats & a Feature race. 12 cars started the 20 lap feature which ended up being an eventful and expensive race. Saturday night saw round 4 for the Lightning Sprints at Archerfield Speedway. A good field of 15 cars took to the track for three heats and a feature. Again terrific weather and a good track allowed for some good racing in the heats. The 20 lap feature saw 12 cars meet the green flag and it was incident and action packed from the start. DARYL MARTIN RACING

Daryl Martin of DMR#96 is pleased to announce there in the final stages of having the current 2010/11 New Zealand Mini Sprint Champion on board with them for the Queensland Lightning Sprint Title that will be held at Charlton Raceway in Toowoomba in April 2012.

Dayne Maxwell from Hamilton New Zealand will make his International Racing Debut and strap himself into the driver’s seat of my Lightning Sprint, which has a Henchcraft Chassis with a ZX12 power plants in it say’s Daryl.

I have spoken to Scott Genrich at Charlton Raceway, and also Dave Whell from the club, it is close to finalization and all systems go say’s Daryl. I may also have the pleasure of having Chris Street owner of CSR Fabrications on the spanners and a former New Zealand Mini Sprint Champion himself.Thats a bonus say’s Daryl.

This is good for the Lightning Sprints, good for the Club, and certainly good for Speedway in general I believe. I hope this will attract a large car count. I just ask that people will make Dayne feel welcome. So come on down and say hello.

I am organising my passport and keeping in regular contact with Daryl, says Dayne. I can’t wait to hit the track and turn some laps at Charlton Raceway in sunny Queensland. To win a National Title is great, but to race in another country well that’s icing on the cake. I have been asked to bring my flag which I will do. Who knows, if everything pans out right and Daryl is up to it, we may even head down the highway to South Australia and do the National Title if we meet the requirements. “See you all at the track”...

THIS WEEKS STORY

Local Toowoomba Driver Mark Sinton showed good form from Practice Thursday night through to the Main event Saturday night. With only two shows under his belt Mark performed very well in his heat races and stayed out of trouble. Mark opted not to nominate for the National Title up until the last minute, with limited racing done so early in the year but proved he can keep it up there with the front runners. With gaining two top three finishes in his heats which gave him 9th highest point scorer going into the Pole Shuffle. Coming up against another Toowoomba local Keith Blatch, Blatch with the fire in his belly after having such rotten luck all weekend defeated Mark Sinton in his first round. So this meant Mark has to start out of position ten. Mark then kept his nose clean to finish an outstanding 7th place in his first National Title and is now looking forward to the rest of the season. Well done to Mark and his crew for an outstanding effort that weekend at Charlton Raceway.
