BIS Race Results - 02/01/10

Fantastic night of racing at BIS with 17 cars doing battle over 4 heats and a 20 lap feature.  The track became slick early in the night and it was a battle for drivers to tighten their cars to suit the conditions with a decent cushion on entry another obstacle to overcome.

Heat results:-

Heat 1:- 1st Scott Doyle Q8, 2nd Michael Gollagher Q3, 3rd Brad Ayers Q9

Heat 2:- 1st Dave Fanning Q31, 2nd Dave Whell, 3rd Keith Blatch Q77

Heat 3:- 1st John Cariola, 2nd Scott Doyle, 3rd Scott Genrich Q18

Heat 4:- 1st Keith Blatch, 2nd Dave Fanning, 3rd Glen Eyers

Feature:-
Sixteen cars lined up for the feature with a top 8 inversion drawn by Scott Doyle.  Keith Blatch quickly jumped into the lead after only a few laps with some spectacular outside passing on the cushion and he was followed through by a fast Scott Doyle who was also using the highline to great effect.  The race was just starting to get very intersting with Doyle throwing all he had a Blatch just as ther pair started carving up lapped traffic only to be halted by a caution for a spun car.  At he restart Allan Brosnan also looped the green #17 racer and the field had to line up again.  The race resumed with Doyle trying a slide job on Blatch but couldn't make the pass stick coming off the turn.  The pair continued to fight like this for the next 3 laps swapping positions several times before they once again hit lapped traffic.  This allowed Dave Fanning and Brad Ayers and a gaggle of chasing cars to close the gap slightly on the leaders.  Blatch made a mistake in turn 2 half spinning the number 77 which allowed Doyle to scoot past and open a big gap down the back straight only for the move to be negated immediately by a caution for yet another spinning car.  This allowed Blatch to restart from the front with only 5 laps remaining and although Doyle tried valliently to get past he just couldn't seem to get enough momentum off the turns as Blatch who went on to take a thoroughly deserved victory ahead of Doyle and Dave Fanning.  The 1st B grade driver home was Scott Genrich who is improving steadilly through each meeting.  Finishing placings were:-
Keith Blatch Q77, Scott Doyle, Q8, Dave Fanning Q31, Brad Ayers Q9, Dave Whell Q27, Craig Smith Q85, John Cariola Q7, Scott Genrich Q18, Glen Eyers Q19,Alan Brosnan Q17, Audi Malt Q6, Mike Davis Q5, DNF Jim Kennedy Q46, Andrew Sparks Q94.

Next Meeting is one week away back at BIS 09/01/10 as support for the World Series Sprintcars. Talk soon Peter Campbell

Maryborough Race Results - 19th December 2009

18 cars turned to battle the Maryborough Speedway on Saturday night.  With that many cars we had 10 cars in one heat and 8 cars in the next heat. Scott Doyle broke his lap record at Maryborough in his heat 2 at a time of 13.014 seconds, Well done Scott.

Heat 1a Heat 1b Heat 2a Heat 2b
1st #7 John Cariola 1st #47 Sid Whittaker 1st #77 Keith Blatch 1st #8 Scott Doyle
2nd #77 Keith Blatch 2nd #5 Mike Davis 2nd #31 Dave Fanning 2nd #85 Craig Smith
3rd #85 Craig Smith 3rd #19 Glen Eyears 3rd #47 Sid Whittaker 3rd #19 Glen Eyears

Final time was upon us and still had 17 cars to contest the final. With 20 laps to race, we knew it was going to be a great race. Keith Blatch won the final and did a lap record which beat Scott Doyles record that was just made in Heat 2b. His lap time was 13.001 seconds. So now Keith Blatch has lap record at Maryborough Speedway. Well done to Keith. 1st #77 Keith Blatch, 2nd # 47 Sid Whittaker, 3rd #7 John Cariola, 4th #59 Scott Harth, 5th #18 Scott Genrich, 6th #5 Mike Davis, 7th #85 Craig Smith, 8th #97 Justin Freeman, 9th #9 Brad Ayers, 10th #6 Audi Malt.

ARCHERFIELD RACE RESULTS 5th December 09
With 16 cars turning for the night of racing, the race shedule had to be changed to fit in 2 rounds of heats. 8 cars in each heat there was certainly going to be some great racing. We would like to welcome Andrew Sparks #94 to our team and also a comeback to Sid Whittaker #47, wish these guys all the best.

Heat 1a Heat 1b Heat 2a Heat 2b
1st #31 Dave Fanning 1st #8 Scott Doyle 1st #31 Dave Fanning 1st #77 Keith Blatch

3rd #9 Brad Ayers 3rd # 85 Craig Smith 3rd # 27 David Whell 3rd #18 Scott Genrich

Heat 2a rain was just about to hit, but with a bit of luck it held off for the race. Heat 2b we weren't so lucky, with only 4 laps ran, the race was abandoned due to rain. Luckily the rain stopped so we were able to run our feature with the laps decrease to 12. Dave Fanning #31 was the highest point scorer on the night, and he drew marble number 6, which inverted the top 6. Unfortunately he couldn't take the win of Scott Doyle #8, but home strong in position 2.

Lismore Race Results 21st November 09

Well what a great night at Lismore. 10 drivers turned up to tackle the heat and the humidity of Lismore. Would like to welcome Mark Linder to our team and wish him all the best. We were given 3 heats, a dash, and 15 lap final, so we knew we were in for a hard night of racing.

Heat 1 Heat 2 Heat 3
1. 14 Tony Brearly 1. 85 Craig Smith 1. 85 Craig Smith
2. 9 Brad Ayers 2. 14 Tony Brearly 2. 27 David Whell
3. 85 Craig Smith 3. 26 Ben Hilder 3. 9 Brad Ayers

With these race results, the top 4 were decided for the dash - #26 Ben Hilder, #14 Tony Brearly,#85 Craig Smith and #27 David Whell, and they were to race 6 laps. Unfortunately David Whell could not get his car started to contest the dash. Ben Hilder won, Craig Smith second and then Tony Brearly in for third. The final was then upon us with a 15 lap final. Lismore speedway really turned it on for the Lightning Sprints, with the seven cars all ready to race and then a spectacular display of fireworks coming from the pace car for the whole lap. It was a great sight to see. With David Whell and Brad Ayers off the front row, we all knew it was going to be a hard race. David Whell led the race for the majority of the time until Craig Smith passed him on turn 1 and 2 on the last lap. 1st - #85 Craig Smith, 2nd - #27 David Whell, 3rd - #9 Brad Ayers, 4th -#26 Ben Hilder,5th - #14 Tony Brearly, 6th -#17 Alan Brosnan and 7th - #18 Scott Genrich. All drivers did extremely well to battle with the heat and the humidity of Lismore.

1st Queensland Lightning Sprints drivers at Archerfield Speedway 31st October, 2009

The night started with 12 drivers nominated for the meeting. All cars were well presented and looks as though alot of people have been busy in the off season. We would like to welcome a new driver Jim Kennedy #46 to our team and wish him all the best. Also, a big thanks to Jason Caplin who made the trip from Townsville to race. Feature win was hard fought between David Whell and Ben Hilder, but Whelly was the stronger this time. Brad Ayers came in at 3rd and Jason Caplin won the B Grade.
